Welcome to the 30 Squadron (RAF) Association Website
Firstly, we'd like to tell you about our form on the right. If you have been a member of the Squadron and are a paid-up member of the 30 Squadron Association then you can, if you wish, receive our newsletter. This is a new service that we hope to start very soon, so please sign-up and we'll get going.
We thought it might be a good idea to give you just a taste of what you'll find deep inside the site, and possibly whet your appitites for contributing at a later date.
We have a new Membership section. This is geared to new members so that they can find out how to join the Association, and includes various forms that can be printed off from the site and posted directly to the Membership Secretary.
You'll also notice on the top navigation bar the 'Who's Who' button. This shows who the current Committee members are. If you'd like to get in contact with a particular Committee member just click on the 'Contact Us' button and ask your question there.
The navigation buttons on the right-hand-side are there for general interest items in the site. For example, you may wish to find details of the next Reunion, have a glance at the Squadron history or browse the Memorials. Also, we have a Gallery section in which members can see photos of past events and reunions. This part of the site will be expanding all the time so keep an eye on that.
One area I hope you'll be particularly interested in is 'Pals Reunited'. Basically, this is your chance to add your name to the ever expanding list of members who left the Squadron or RAF and lost touch with their friends and colleagues. Have a look at the page and get yourself on it by filling in the simple form.
Coming very soon is a 'Message Forum'. For those not familiar with forums, this is a way to discuss basically any subject you like and even try to find old friends and get in touch. Hopefully, you'll find it very enlightening and, dare I say it, useful. Please note, it will be administered and moderated by the Webmaster and you will have to use your proper name
Below the Message Forum button is the Obituary. Every year we loose a small number of our members and it is felt that their name should be published on the website as a mark of respect. Obviously, it is an emotional subject and some families may not wish their loved ones name published so if you feel that way please let us know and we will respect your views and remove their name immediately.
The last section is under useful links. At this time we are working on getting some interesting articles on what the Squadron is up to now - the present day. We should have some more on this soon.
Also in the useful links section is the 'Interest' button. Click on this and you will be taken to a page of links that include access to the RAF News Online, the RAFA website, a link to John Hamlin who wrote 'Flat Out', and Mark Postlthwaite, the outstanding artist who painted a number of Squadron paintings including 'Albert at Stanley'.
So, there you are. We hope you enjoy the website and look at it on a regular basis. We have just added a short piece on Post Falklands under the 'History' button and very soon we should have an article from Simon Lord covering his grandfather's exploits on 30 Squadron flying the Blenheim.
